Umuagha Settles for Ihenacho, presents him to Ikpamezie, Sole Ad.

The people of Umuagha Autonomous Community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area yesterday the 14th day of December, 2023, in one voice, formally presented their Eze-elect, His Royal Highness, Barr. Godfrey Ihenacho, to the member representing Mbaitoli in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Engr. Innocent Ikpamezie, as well as to the Sole Administrator of Mbaitoli Local Government Area, Hon. Hamilton Chinasa Opara.

It was a very colourful ceremony at the Local Government Headquarters at Nwaorieubi, when the people of Umuagha in their numbers, presented Eze Godfrey Ihenacho to Hon. Chinasa Opara who is the representative of the State Government in the Local Government.

Opara expressed his delight with the move by the people to bring their desired choice for the throne to him for recognition.

It can be recalled that the Umuagha throne had been vacant following the death of late Eze Alphious Chikezie.

In one accord, the people of Umuagha settled for the United States of America based legal practitioner, to fill the vaccum and continue piloting the affairs of the autonomous community.

From Nwaorieubi, the people of Umuagha in their numbers, headed to Owerri, the capital of Imo State, where they met with the member representing Mbaitoli in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Engr. Innocent Ikpamezie.

Ikpamezie who was already in a seating at the floor of the House with other members of the State Assembly, broke protocol to receive Eze Godfrey Ihenacho and the good people of Umuagha who were with him.

His Royal Highness Eze Barr. Godfrey Ihenacho is a practicing lawyer in the United States of America who is deeply rooted in the affairs of Umuagha Autonomous Community.

Prior the call by the people of Umuagha to serve them as their Eze, His Royal Highness Eze Barr. Godfrey Ihenacho made it a point to return home from his based in the United States, at least twice yearly.

His Royal Highness Eze Barr Godfrey Ihenacho amongst other community development projects he have spearheaded and undertaken, financed the restoration of power to the transformer in the community after almost 18 months of darkness.

During the COVID 19 lockdown, His Royal Highness Eze Barr Godfrey Ihenacho opened his doors and distributed palliatives to his people and singlehandedly undertook the digging of the borehole at the Health Centre of Eziama Obiato, providing water for the patients, staff of the centre, as well as neighbouring residents.

His contributions to the community both socially, morally and even religiously is beyond comparison, which is why the people of Umuagha unanimously called on him to lead the community.

A villager who spoke to TheCity said, “Umuagha wants a traditional ruler who won’t go about begging for money like some of those we see. We want a man who can stand on his own and attract development to the community. Eze Godfrey Ihenacho is a man with enormous capacity and that’s why you see all these people here today to present him to the representatives of the government and the people, as our choice for the Umuagha throne.”

In his remark to after the presentation, His Royal Highness Eze Barr Godfrey Ihenacho called for unity of purpose and peace in Umuagha and Imo State in general, assuring the good people of Umuagha and the government of Imo State of his dedication to ensuring peace and progress returns to the land.
